Day 165 - Jealousy and Envy / Ciúme e Inveja

These two are cousins. Bad ones. They are these two bad cousins who can't be happy to someone else's blessings. It's sad, really sad.

The two are different though. Jealousy may be a fear of losing someone, or a feeling we can't really understand about somebody or something who makes us feel threatened. Envy on the other hand is when we look at something we don't have and we want it. We want it so bad we can't be happy for a friend's happiness.

They are similar, but not equal, although equally bad. Jealousy is fear of losing something, Envy is the desire of having something that doesn't belong to us.
Both of them are clearly despised by God and the Scriptures tell us:

- Love is never tired of waiting; love is kind; love has no envy; love has no high opinion of itself, love has no pride; 1 Corinthians 13:4

- A quiet mind is the life of the body, but envy is a disease in the bones. Proverbs 14:30

Both feelings show us one thing, lack of Faith. If we do have Faith and believe deeply in everything God promised us, then we will remember He knows the plans He has for us, therefore, there is no reason why to be jealous about someone. What is ours and was given by God, is ours, and no one else but God is capable of taking it away. The same way, if we know the promises and we believe they are true, there is no reason why to envy, because we would know God has something really special for each one of us, therefore what is the neighbor's, should be left alone.

Faith, I heard, is the belief on what we can't see but we wait for, as we believe we will rceive it. Therefore, jealousy and enviouness are the total opposite of Faith.

I pray for those who are not having a quiet spirit, those who can't sleep at night because they are too unsatisfied with what they have received from God, and are always looking for something else, even something else that already belongs to somebody. I pray God will silence their hearts and minds and will help them to believe on what they can't see.

Estes dois são primos. Maus. São estes dois primos ruins que não conseguem ser feliz com as bênçãos do próximo. É triste, realmente triste.


Os dois são diferentes embora. Ciúme pode ser um medo de perder alguém, ou um sentimento que não conseguimos realmente entender sobre alguém ou alguma coisa que nos faz sentir ameaçados. Inveja por outro lado, é quando olhamos para algo que não temos e queremos. Queremos algo tanto que não podemos sermos felizes com a felicidade de um amigo.

Eles são semelhantes, mas não iguais, embora igualmente ruins. O ciúme é o medo de perder algo, Inveja é o desejo de ter algo que não nos pertence.

Ambos são claramente desprezados por Deus e as Escrituras nos dizem:

- O amor nunca está cansado de esperar, o amor é bondoso, o amor não tem inveja, o amor não tem opinião elevada de si mesmo, o amor não tem orgulho; 1 Coríntios 13:4

- A mente quieta é a vida do corpo, mas a inveja é uma doença nos ossos. Provérbios 14:30


Ambos sentimentos nos mostram uma coisa, falta de fé. Se nós temos fé e acreditamos profundamente em tudo o que Deus prometeu a nós, então vamos lembrar que Ele sabe os planos que Ele tem para nós, portanto, não há razão para ter ciúmes de alguém, o que é nosso e dado por Deus, é nosso e só Deus pode tirar. Da mesma forma, se sabemos as promessas e acreditamos que elas são verdadeiras, não há nenhuma razão para que termos inveja, porque saberíamos que Deus tem algo muito especial para cada um de nós, portanto, o que é do próximo, não devemos cobiçar.
Fé, eu ouvi, é a crença naquilo que não podemos ver, mas esperamos que, como nós acreditamos que vamos receber. Portanto, o ciúme e a inveja são o oposto total de fé.

Eu oro por aqueles que não conseguem ter um espírito quieto, aqueles que não podem dormir à noite porque eles são muito insatisfeito com o que eles têm recebido de Deus, e estão sempre à procura de outra coisa, mesmo algo que já pertence a alguém. Eu oro a Deus que silenciará os seus corações e mentes e irá ajudá-los a acreditar no que eles não podem ver.
