Day 205 - I have a God
I will not be afraid when troubles come my way. He is my shield, my strong protection, the arm that holds me when I am about to fall.
My Lord is wonderful, and without Him there is no life. The is no light and there is no love.
He helps me have patience and wisdom to overcome tricky situations, He gives me hope and shows me what to do in moments of desperation.
I'm thankful and overwhelmed as He humbles me showing how silly I am when I let my emotions take over my attitudes and when I even judge others for mistakes I also make.
No one can tell me He doesn't exist, and in fact there are more ways to show His existance than His absence, just look around. He is wonderful and ready to love, no matter who.

Day 204 - Se eu apenas te tocar serei curado
Glória a ti Jesus!

Day 202 - Living in the centre of God's will
It bugs me when people say "I can't do this because I'm a Christian". It is not that we are Christians so we are prohibited to do things, it's way beyond that, it has to do with being in the very centre of God's will. Being a Christian is not about 'how far can I go without falling into sin?' It's more about 'how close can I get to God's will?'
When we live in the centre of what God has planned for us we do one great thing, do not put ourselves in trouble. Trouble comes with lack of wisdom and lack of wisdom is not what God's wishes are for us. It is like a map, as far as you go from God, smaller is your source of wisdom, higher the chance to get in trouble.
God did not create rules to make our lives boring and non exciting, He did so to save us from ourselves, to keep us safe because He loves us.
Being in the centre of His will is to live a free life, worry free, stress free, because we know we are safe. How many times have I told myself 'only if I had listened to my mother' or 'only if I had been more careful'. Why did I get in trouble? Because of my own lack of respect for God's laws. He says honour father and mother, which means if all the times my parents gave me advice I had listened, I would be in the centre of God's will and would not have gotten mysef in trouble.
God is love, and He is wise, He is all we should and must think of. Before making a decision, what would God think of it? Before making plans, what is God's plan?
That's real freedom, living our lives plenty and full of the life He died for.

Day 201 - Passion of Christ
At some points in life, specially during our teenage years, we all tend to have passion for something. It could be a famous singer, a class mate or even a teacher. We create these things in our heads and we believe those feelings are love and that we are being moved by passion.
The word "passion" comes from Latin "pathos" which means suffering, disease and feeling. Indeed we can say that those teenagers are moved by passion, since they are suffering inside because of the uncorresponded love.
When we think of Jesus' passion for us, it has all the three meanings, He had such a great feeling for us that it made Him sacrifice Himself for us and suffer more than any has ever suffered. He is crazy for us literally, He did and will do anything and everything for us. He laid Himself down for His loved ones.
Whether passion and love walk together is another discussion, but in Jesus case, His love was so great and His passion so intense that He was capable of doing what He did.
People say the type of love described in Jesus' actions is found in mothers, that suffer and feel pain for their babies and would most of times die for their children, but to what level?
The point is, there is no love as Jesus' love and His huge sacrifice for us, only He can teach us to love and show us what real love and real submission is. To lay or lives down for another is what God teaches us in the Bible through many scenes, and mostly through His own life as Jesus.

Day 200 - He is the reason
He is the reason why we are alive. The reason why we have successes in our lives. It is all to glorify and to praise His name.
We are here for Him, by Him and because of Him.
For my glorious Lord Jesus, the creator of it all, the one who holds the whole universe together.
We are here for Him, by Him and because of Him.
For my glorious Lord Jesus, the creator of it all, the one who holds the whole universe together.
The blood of Jesus is what sanctifies us, it is what cleanses us from our ugliness. We are meant to be imperfect so that His glory can be shown to the world so that every knee will bend, every head will bow, and every tongue will proclaim that He is the Lord.

Day 199 - Beautiful One
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek." Romans 1:16
Believe, Trust, Praise the One, Be strong, Hang in there, Hand it to Him, Remember, Love, Live!
Day 198 - Temporary life
Some of the trees around us are hundreds of years old. The oldest living tree has been spotted by scientists as 9,550 years old. That's a lot. That tree saw summers and winters, saw people killing each other, saw Jesus coming, saw the wars and the centuries go by. That tree is still alive today, and if it could talk it would say "how silly those humans, generations go by and they are still stuck". The truth is, if those scientists are right and the tree is as old as they say, we can realize that God can make us live as long as He wants us to be here, if He wanted us to live 100, 200, 1,000 years, He certainly would.
This makes me think how temporary all this life is, and how short it is.
I guess God keeps us here only for a short time because He wants to keep us moving under pressure, if we had 1,000 years to learn and correct our mistakes, boy we would never learn!
In some way, He is saying 'you only have this much time, move quick, change, repent and live for me, before it's too late'.
It's funny how our lives have become disposable. Our goods, our friends, sometimes even people spouses are disposable. We have such a short time to live, why waste it with superficial things? Our Father knows all our needs, why spend our lives running after wants and desires like rats racing nowhere?
Why waste life being depressed and grumpy? People....sigh...I hope one day we will brake through and reach the end of the silly cycle we put ourselves in.
Lucky there is Jesus, our shield of strength, our shelter, our stronghold, our only HOPE.

Day 195 - Lack of happiness / Falta de felicidade
Today I came to the conclusion we are all the same, from the youngest to the oldest person, we all need the same basic things: food, water, shelter and love. The thing is the three first ones are physical and the last one, love, is abstract. For food and material things we can work for, go to school, invest money on, but how can we earn love?
Those four things are the essential for survival, research has been done on babies that do not receive human care and touch and they die after a few months, despite being fed and receiving the best of material life.
We all need love, and that is, in my view, the main reason for our current state of chaos. People are unhappy, that's the answer. Wars and conflicts wouldn't happen if people we content with what they have.
That's why the Bible say, don't worry about things, your Father in heaven knows what you need. But if we are not open to receive love or to love we won't be happy and will seek for fulfilment in things that are temporary. Love, however, is everlasting.
Our fussy children, our rebel teenagers, our unsatisfied adults, our lonely elders, we are all lacking love and that's why the world is upside down nowadays. It just seems as if most of us is running on a rat race chasing things and situations that will never be enough.
The answer for the chaos is Jesus. Jesus loves us, He loves you. This may be what's missing, to know that we have an everlasting source of love, a love bigger than anything else and capable of doing all things.
Amor, no entanto, é eterno.

Day 194 - Success
98% of people pursuit success in life, who doesn't want to be successful? To accomplish good things and be able to look at the past and see the results from hard work.
It is just not healthy when success is the main thing for somebody. God is the centre of everything and should be the centre of our lives. Nothing should take the place that belongs to God. God created us to be successful, but our success actually comes from Him, so all achievements are His glory and not ours.
Whenever a Christian person earns a big amount of money or achieves the impossible, it is not for the person to brag, as it is all God's work and glory. If it wasn't for Him, we could work work and work, and no result would come out of it.
The Lord is faithful and He will never let us down, nothing happens without His consent and we should all surrender to His will, as it is awesome and perfect.

Day 193 - Psalms 12
For the chief music-maker on the Sheminith. A Psalm. Of David.> Send help, Lord, for mercy has come to an end; there is no more faith among the children of men.
Everyone says false words to his neighbour: their tongues are smooth in their talk, and their hearts are full of deceit.
The smooth lips and the tongue of pride will be cut off by the Lord.
They have said, With our tongues will we overcome; our lips are ours: who is lord over us?
Because of the crushing of the poor and the weeping of those in need, now will I come to his help, says the Lord; I will give him the salvation which he is desiring.
The words of the Lord are true words: like silver tested by fire and burned clean seven times.
You will keep them, O Lord, you will keep them safe from this generation for ever.
The sinners are walking on every side, and evil is honoured among the children of men.

Day 192 - Being with Jesus, not using Jesus
These past two weeks I've been reading a book that talks about prayer. Definitely prayer is more important for us than water or food, as it is the communication channel with our Creator. Without prayer we can't tell our Creator what we are thinking, we can't tell Him how much we love Him.
Prayer was not created for us to tell God what we need as He already knows. The Scriptures say He knows all our needs. It says, the flowers don't move nor work but they don't have to worry about their dress code because the Creator provides to them. It says, if us people can give good gifts to our children, how much more can He give?
Those verses tell us the main function to prayer is not to ask and ask for things, He knows what we need.
The main function to prayer is to express our love, our adoration, how much we fear and admire Him. It is to seek His presence, His holiness, His Spirit and power.
He wants to see us telling Him how much we need Him and want Him in our lives, because Jesus said," I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. " Revelation 3:20 He told us right there that what He wants is to be with us, and that's what He taught us to pray, not just to ask for a new car or a promotion.
Our main and primarily call is to sit at His feet, He called us to be holly and to adore Him, the happiness and all the other things come after. Let's adore our Father. Hallelujah!

Day 191 - Mockers
I guess everybody, Christian or non Christian has had to deal with mockers at least once in their lives.
When we were little and all the bullies would come, we reacted with our natural responses, revenge.
The Scriptures do say we are not supposed to sit among mockers, but what to do when we have no choice but to be surrounded by them? At school or work for example?
It is really hard to lead daily life when it feels like we are aliens among worldly people, deceitful people, mockers, etc. What do we do?
Jesus say 'if somebody strikes your right cheek, give him the left one' and 'if somebody makes you walk a mile, go with him two'.
That means we must look beyond their behaviour. The behaviour only shows the symptoms of a disease. This disease is called lack of God. It destroys everything inside, it pushes love away and it makes peoples minds confused, that is why they say bad things about people instead of good.

We must be the light, we must forgive and keep giving love. And yes, it is easy to say and hard to act, but that is why Jesus is with us, so that when its beyond our limit, we can ask Him for the extra strength. God is really good, He is awesome, He will never abandon us or leave us if we ask Him to stay.

Day 189 - Can't get enough of Jesus
"Grace be with all those who have true love for our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 6:24
"And the grace of our Lord was very great, with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus." 1 Timothy 1:14
"Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for life eternal through the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ." Jude 1:21
He says as much as we remain in Him and Him in us, we may ask anything and He will give it to us.
That's our Jesus, nothing is too big for Him. When we ask for food, He gives more than enough, we ask for help with finances, He surprises us with things we weren't thinking of.
He is so marvelous that none of our brains would be capable of understanding and getting a full grasp of how His mind and heart works.
I just can't get enough of Jesus, I can't live without Him. He is my first love, my absolute necessity to live. I could live without everything else but Jesus.

Day 188 - Making the impossible possible
We are merely humans, in contrary to what most people think, we do not hold the power to control this universe, it acts according to a higher will and who are we to even think we could be the kings?
God is the king, the controller, the great inventor of this wonderful mysterious universe.
If we don't hold the power to make things controllable, how can we achieve what is impossible?
- Reaching to the one who makes everything possible.
God did not make us weak because He wanted to see us suffering. He made us small because He wanted us to seek His help, to need Him, so we could show love to Him. He just wants to love and to be loved.
Other than that, He holds all glory and power, therefore he deserves it, He is love, He is amazing grace, He can make everything possible, and so He wants us to seek Him so we can give glory and praise to Him and more people will see His glory, and by recognizing God's glory they will receive all the love and blessings He is desperately desiring to give everyone of us.
He says, everyone who believes in me will receive. That's all, it doesn't matter how much impossible a situation or problem is, He is wants to bless us, and use our sufferings as opportunities for Him to operate miracles.

Day 187 - Totally dependant
I am totally dependant of Christ. I can't go a day without making a stupid mistake or saying something wrong to somebody, or getting a little bitterness come into my heart. I so wish I was perfect, just like Jesus.
I wish I could be peaceful, pure, loving, caring, sensitize, wise, generous and all the other things only God is. It hurts to be human because we have to face our true self all the time. I have to be myself 24/7 and that sucks because I can be so bad.
But wait a minute, Jesus died for me. I don't have to be this horrible person my mind tells me to be, I can be transformed by a word that changes my entire day. I can become loving and caring by asking Jesus to teach me that.
I can persevere on watching myself for mistakes and continue on hunting for improvement every moment.
I will never be perfect like Jesus because that's His place to be, but I can be a little less imperfect everyday.
There is a lesson to learn everyday, there is a sin to repent from everyday.
There will always be a new day, a new trial to lay our lives at Jesus' feet and say "I am totally dependant of you, Lord" "Without you I am an empty shell". Until Jesus comes back or until He calls us to heaven, there is always a new day to become less imperfect.
I am not ashamed to say, I am totally dependant of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
He knows me, knows how hard it is to be a human, knows all my weaknesses, He knows my heart, He's got the answers to all my questions. I give Him praise.
I wish I could be peaceful, pure, loving, caring, sensitize, wise, generous and all the other things only God is. It hurts to be human because we have to face our true self all the time. I have to be myself 24/7 and that sucks because I can be so bad.

I am not ashamed to say, I am totally dependant of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
He knows me, knows how hard it is to be a human, knows all my weaknesses, He knows my heart, He's got the answers to all my questions. I give Him praise.

Day 186 - Jesus is everything
It doesn't matter what language we speak, where we come from, we are all the same, we all long for the same things, we all suffer, love, huger and live life chasing things and running against time. We must rejoice amongst ourselves and praise the One who made us so perfectly, so lovely. He is lovely. He took the time to do the most delicate flowers, to plant each hair in our heads, to design each one of our finger prints different from each other. He is the God of the universe, the one who came down and bled for us, the one who is able to do everything, the one who loves all of us despite our shortcomings, the forgiving, everlasting, wonderful, marvelous, loving, beautiful Jesus Christ.

Day 185 - Who is really the tough one?
I was just thinking how much the world appreciates tough people. All the movies, the songs, the gangster lifestyle. What is it so glamorous about those people? It's like it's good and admirable to be the tough one who kills people or argues with everybody.
Not only that but also among the young people, it seems that the cool people are the ones who can prove to be tough, to drink the most, date as many people and not be heart broken, to fight with everyone, to be mean with parents and old people. That's to be tough.
But I know what real tough people are like. They are the ones that can overcome the world, Jesus was tough, He surpassed Satan, He overcame all temptation and He held all the pain. Now who is the tough one?
The worldly people who need to follow the world's rules to be accepted or the ones who follow Jesus' steps?
What is harder, to fall for the pleasure the world offers or to resist it. It takes a lot of strength and self control to a man to not fall for the mini skirts and tight shirts the women are wearing to show themselves off. That's tough, to be out in the world and not fall for the world's crap. That's admirable and honourable.
The Bible says, it's trough Jesus that we will be able to conqueer the world, He holds the power and strength we need to not fall for foolish things. Wisdom comes from Him and when we follow wisdom we get to Jesus.
Jesus is the tough one, nobody can beat Him, no word can trick Him, no secret can be kept from Him and none of His actions can be defused. Jesus is everything.

Day 184 - God's creation vs. Human creation
I was at this beautiful garden today that is actually as big as a park, 50 something acres, and even with all that beauty I was not impressed. I started to feel bad about myself, and I was thinking "God created the nature, why is it that I'm not amazed at this beauty?" Then I realized yes, God created nature and all there is in this universe, but in that park, it was the humans that put the plants together, it's a designed park, not a piece of natural vegetation.
My favourite parts of the garden were the ones I could see God's forests in the back, or when I could see the ocean, not the arranged flowers. Human work may be pretty impressive and refined, but God's work is perfect, there is nothing like it.
I admire God's work, it's just beautiful, perfect, and the details, wow. There is nothing like God.
We must surrender to Him, we must

Day 183 - Resting in God
We all know we are all humans, and just like every human being, we need food, water and rest. In times of tiredeness we may tend to seek for rest in things such as TV, magazine, a book, a bath, and yes, those things are great for helping our body to relax and take the stress off us and also to cleanse our minds.
Once our minds are cleansed, they need to be filled up with something.
We have always been seeking fullfilment, but the truth is only God can give us the fullfilment we are looking for. The world can not give us what only God can. It's unfortunate that so many people disagree with that and can't really see what we Christians see.
The Scripture says: "And Jesus said to him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of heaven have a resting-place; but the Son of man has nowhere to put his head." Matthew 8:20
Just like Jesus being expressed by Son of man in this verse, we have no place to rest. Our rest is in God.
Nothing in this universe will give us the rest we need. The Holy Spirit of God is the one who can cleanse us entirely and fill us up with the good things Jesus brought us when He washed our sins.
For a tired head, there is the floor, when we go on our knees and bow to the king. That's our rest right there.

Day 182 - Studying God's Word
Why would we go to school for so many years to learn about History, English, Math, Biology and wouldn't make an effort to learn about God's word? The Bible is the most important book ever written, in all purpose of learning to write and read, reading the Bible is the ultimate goal of being literate.
Bible studies are fantastic, we can learn so much with them, with the sharing of stories and insights different people will have, by just giving some time to God.
We spend so much more time in other things already, can't we at least give God half an hour of our day to read and study His word? Yes we can! It's so nice to just travel away in those pages and all the stories we read over and over.
Just as we have manuals for our fancy TVs and gadgets, God, who created us and all the ideas we have, created a manual for life. That's our Bible, it's the manual that contains all the information we need to know to achieve God's purposes and get to eternity with Him.
God bless us all tonight, and be in our dreams so we can all listen from Him and love His word.

Day 181 - Lazy
That was me today....lazy, did nothing at all...just not to say that I didn't do anything, I ate, had shower, watched a TV show on the computer and did some laundry, actually, the machine did it for me.
God talks about lazy people on the Bible, and He sure doesn't like it.
I'm not always lazy like that, normally I work and study a lot, but I do feel lazy like everybody else, and when I'm busy I wish I could relax, and when I got nothing to do, I wish I was at work.
"The hater of work does not get his desires, but the soul of the hard workers will be made fat."
Proverbs 13:4
"Thorns are round the way of the hater of work; but the road of the hard worker becomes a highway." Proverbs 15:19
Sure it's good to relax one in a while, but to spend a whole life taking it easy, doesn't bring any happiness to God, we must show Him our hard work. We must show Him we care.
He promissed to feed us and give us shelter, because He acts by grace. It's unfortunate that many of us take it for granted and just not do anything for their provision.
Let Jesus give us all the strenght and the willingness to work for our things, He is our source of work and our source of energy.

Day 180 - Innocence
When we say the word innocence, we think of children right away. Children are innocent, at least most of them, the ones who have been raised in clean environments. To be innocent is to not have any guilt of blame, is to have the mind of a child just like God asks us to. The Scriptures mention:
"Truly I say to you, Whoever does not put himself under the kingdom of God like a little child, will not come into it at all." Luke 18:17
That means to be pure, to have all our thoughts and feelings without malice.
It also means to be dependant. It's when we try to walk by our own understanding and strength that we fail. We need God, just as a child needs the parents to survive, to make good decisions. How many times have I not asked my dad's opinion about something and then failed? How many other times have I asked him, and they avoided mistakes because of his wisdom?
I love this song in Portuguese called "Intimacy" it talks about being intimate with Jesus in a way that only best friends do, eating from each other's plates, wearing the same clothes. At one point it says "Jesus I want to wear your shirt and see how much bigger than me you are"
It's true, we are babies, He must look at us and find us cute in a silly way, and when we do anything for Him, is like our kids making drawings and macaroni necklaces for their parents.
I love my friend Jesus, my big counselor. I want to be humble enough to recognize I'm not capable of doing this life on my own and I need advice, help, a big push, I do. I'm just one of God's children.
